There is also the option to “Host as Dedicated Server” in the in-game multiplayer options that will help minimize issues if you encounter them. These steps will help you minimize your network lag and improve your multiplayer experience.
Your PC will be communicating with several others throughout the world, so ensure that you have your networking setup to maximize your access to the internet. Make sure your internet is equipped to handle a multiplayer online experience. You can see what applications are currently running by pressing ALT + SHIFT + Esc to open the Task Manager window. This will help mitigate any disruptions while you’re playing Age of Empires. If you’re having performance problems, try creating a smaller map or maxing your population at 200 per team. The larger the map and higher the population, the more it will tax your computer and the computers of other players in your match. There's not technically a version you're supposed to be on, 1.5.9 and 1.6 are both viable options so it's just preference. Before you begin playing your new Age of Empires game, consider the following tips to ensure the best experience while playing: ? Play on a Smaller Map with a Lower Population This will let you keep your 1.5.9 profile in case you ever decide you want to rollback and play on that version instead.
Should be fairly easy to google how to do that if you don't know.
I'm assuming you're using Nexus Mod Manager, so if you plan on moving up to 1.6 you're going to want to make a new mod profile for the new version.
Plus you'll have to start a new campaign, I don't believe 1.5.9 campaigns work in 1.6 (not certain though). I'd look at the features in 1.6.0 and decide whether anything added is something you'd be willing to deal with slightly more instability, a few less mods (check the mods you're using to see if they have a 1.6.0 version), and the time of downloading 1.6.0 versions for all your mods. 1.5.10 is not very stable so I wouldn't play that, especially if you're adding mods and not an experienced modder.ġ.5.9 is stable and has the most mod selection available (a few mods haven't updated to 1.6.0, but most mods that are still being updated have already done so).ġ.6.0 is still less stable, but I've been playing on it since it released and haven't had many issues. I'd choose between 1.5.9 or 1.6.0 right now. Having just ONE mod that’s incompatible with the game version will cause immediate crash at startup.īonus: Here’s Bannerlord tweaks for version 1.6 (Kaoses Tweaks) Deploy the mods from vortex activate them and play from the steam launcher don’t use outdated mods and have the correct load order and you’ll be good. I’m using 20+ mods and starting the game off steam no problems.
For example here’s a compilation of must have abandoned mods somebody updated to 1.6 Īlso I don’t recommend using a modded launcher on version 1.6. Most of the time in the comments section somebody will link a fixed or updated version of the mod. Some mods from other versions still work on 1.6 you have to just goto the mods comments page and somebody will be like “does it work for 1.6?” and somebody will say if it does or not. When you start steam and press play it’ll also say which mods are for different versions. Most say it in the description or the download page.
